In the more than 2 decades since entering the world of statistics, my views and philosophy about the field, regarding both its function and how we should practice it, have changed several times. I will share some of the experiences that have shaped these changes and make candid (some might say provocative) comments on how conventional statistical education and dogma acts as a barrier to scientific progress and what we ought to do about it.
